“Ryugu” Masonry Traditional Repair Work Course
We are pleased to present “Masonry Traditional Repair Work Course” with Jun Nishikawa of landscape coordinator and Kazuo Akao of repairing a masonry at Miyama, Kyoto.
We will rebuild the collapsed masonry and work on improvement around the masonry so that the masonry will not collapse in the future.
A year ago, when Nishikawa visited Yukinori Maeda’s atelier “Ryugu”, I consulted Nishikawa about the fact that the masonry was broken.
“I want to repair the broken masonry, I do not want to use concrete to solidify the masonry if possible…because the finish is natural and beautiful..it is environmentally friendly”.
“Old people did not use concrete… I want to restore it in the old way”. We repeated discussion with Akao about how to repair and how to maintain it.
As well as rebuilding the masonry, we will do repair work including the cause of the breakage, and we will disclose the basics of how to pile the stone and work to the local people and those who are in trouble.
