We were pleasure to hold the 20th anniversary Special Exhibition COSMIC WONDER “Lightness of Light” at Iwami Art Museum.
COSMIC WONDER was initiated in 1997 as a conceptual project comprising diverse modes of expression from of clothing, artwork, and publishing to performance. This retrospective exhibition held to commemorate COSMIC WONDER’s 20th anniversary, introduces representative works from their collections presented in Paris from 2000 to 2009, along with valuable materials including photographic documents and look books.

As a guest speaker we welcome editor and writer Nakako Hayashi who has been involved in the editing of Shiseido’s corporate culture magazine Hanatsubaki, and is recognized for her 2011 publication Kakucho suru Fashion (Expanding Fashion) and the exhibition that originated from it. Hayashi will be in conversation with Yukinori Maeda, founder of COSMIC WONDER, to reflect on the history and development of the project through the years, as well as the prospects it envisions for the future.

“Omizue: Iwamino-Kamito-mizu ” The first edition
An art document “Omizue: Iwamino-Kamito-mizu ” is being published on the occasion of the exhibition, August 2016 at Iwami art Museum.
This book includes an introduction of various tools for Omizue,Yurie Nagashima’s photographs, text by Kogei Punks Sha, Naoto Ishii, Kenji Mukunoki (Shimane Art museum) and Risa Hirota (Iwami Art museum).
All contents of the work” Omizue: Iwamino-kamito-mizu” are collected.
Cover paper is letterpress on Jadoshi (Sekishu-Washi is used by Iwami Kagura). Composed of mimeograph printing, a piece of Washi from Paper koromo attached.

Kamino-hikarino-awa Water Ceremony
Art book
A limited edition art book “Kamino-hikarino-awa Water Ceremony” published on the occasion of the exhibition “MIERU kami“, 2015. Composed of letterpress and mimeograph printing. Limited edition of 250 copies.
The special edition includes the art book, a color print by Yurie Nagashima, a piece of 8mm film by Nobuhiro Shimura. All are housed together in a paulownia wood box. Limited edition of 15 copies.

Nemagari-bamboo basket
Takezaiku woven of nemagari-bamboo native to Togakushi in Nagano prefecture, Japan.
Made entirely by hand by a skilled artisan, beginning with the gathering of bamboos in Mt. Togakushi.
